WORK EXPERIENCE

OTSEGO COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE

Cooperstown NY

 

January 2007 to Present

Sheriff

Elected Sheriff serving the residents of Otsego County. Responsible for the daily operation of the Sheriff’s Office Civil, Correctional and Criminal Divisions.  Manage a staff of approximately 80 employees and a budget of 4.6 million dollars annually.

May 1992 to Dec 2006

Sergeant

Employed by the Otsego County Sheriff’s Office as a Deputy Sheriff assigned to the criminal division serving from May 1992 to March 1999, promoted to Investigator in March 1999 to August of 2000, promoted to Road Patrol Sergeant in August 2000 to 2006. Duties consisted of the immediate supervision of 10 uniformed Deputy Sheriff’s and 1 Deputy Sheriff Investigator. Responsibilities include the supervision of all criminal investigations, overseeing civil process and Administrative duties as directed by the Sheriff.

 

CITY OF ONEONTA

Oneonta NY

 

June 1988-May 1992

Police Officer

Employed as a Police Officer for the City of Oneonta, New York. Responsibilities included the enforcement of local and state laws. The protection of life and property, investigation of crimes and crime prevention. Left to broaden my Law Enforcement career.

 

August 1983-June 1988

Employed as Director of Operations for Fargo Overland Protective Services Inc., North Main St. Milford, New York. Responsibilities included the security of several industrial sites, private businesses and community patrols and in charge of a guard force of 55 to 60 persons. Also responsible for scheduling, payroll and weapons maintenance. Acquired a New York State Pistol Permit in October of 1983. Left to enter the Law Enforcement field and to further my education.

 

August 1981-August 1983

Served in the U.S. Army Military Police Corps with the rank of Specialist 4th class. Obtained a U.S. Government Secret Security Clearance in October of 1981.  In May 1982 granted U.S. Government background investigation which allowed me to obtain a Top Secret Security Clearance. Duties were served at the 61st Military Police Company, Hanau, West Germany. Duties consisted of providing security and access control to a NATO Site containing items vital to National security. Additional duties included providing law enforcement patrols of military installations. Honorably discharged in August 1987.
